McCain wins Republican Nomination |

Arizona Senator John McCain has clinched the Republican nomination for President. McCain won enough delegates to give him the necessary 1,191 delegates to win the nomination. According to reports from CNN, he is expected to meet with President Bush tommorow, who is expected to endorse his bid for the Presidency.
Mike Huckabee is expected to drop out of the race , clearing the path for the general election. It is still unclear who will be his opponent as the Democratic race remains a tight one between Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator Barack Obama.

City of Phoenix Honors Fallen Officer Uribe |

The City of Phoenix held a special ceremony today to dedicate the David C. Uribe
Multi-purpose Room at the Adam Diaz Senior Center, 4115 W. Thomas
Road. The room was neamed after fallen Phoenix Police Officer David C. Uribe, who was killed in the line of duty in May 2005.
Senior citizens participating on the Site Council Advisory Board were
instrumental in recommending this room be dedicated on behalf of Officer Uribe.
Uribe lived in the area and his mother attends the senior center. The
multi-purpose room is where the seniors gather for meals and many social
activities.

Illegal immigration panel recommendations to Phoenix PD |

A panel appointed by Phoenix mayor Phil Gordon to review the procedures that the Phoenix Police Department should follow when dealing with illegals in the line of duty. The recommendations were made by a panel of former prosecutors and legal experts, including former Arizona Attorney General Grant Woods and former Maricopa County Attorney Rick Romley.
The recommendations made to the department include not requiring officers to inquire about a person's citizenship if they are crime victim or if they witness a crime.
